Age of Empires is one of the classic franchises for video games out there. Recently, Forgotten Empires has released a new definitive version of the iconic Age of Empires II on November 14, 2019. The game did pretty well in terms of sales and revenue. A new statement from Brian Sullivan suggests that the game has sold over 25 million copies so far with over $1 billion in revenue.

According to Sullivan’s LinkedIn page, the AOE has sold a total of 25 million units since the release of the original game. In a 2009 report from Edge Online, the franchise had sold 20 million units at that time. So, it seems in a 10-year lifespan, the franchise only managed to sell 5 million units. As for the total revenue, the AOE managed to generate over $1 Billion in total, as per the LinkedIn page.

AOE was originally released on October 15, 1997. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition now available on Microsoft Windows.
