PlayStation 5 ‘Superior’ To Xbox Series X In Ways That Sony Has Not Communicated Yet

PlayStation 5 specs were revealed earlier this week. And while the stream was intended to be tech-related, the majority of the community was still disappointed by the PS5’s deep dive stream.

This report comes from the Kotaku Splitscreen podcast, in which industry insider and news editor Jason Schreier talks about what the developers think about PlayStation 5’s deep dive reveal.

In short, the devs are really impressed and interesting to see what Sony has planned for their next-gen console. “So what I’m hearing from the people who are actually working on these [next-gen consoles] is that the Xbox Series X is not significantly more powerful than the PS5, despite this teraflops number,” Schreier said. “Teraflops might be a useful measure of comparison in some ways, but ultimately it’s a theoretical max speed.”

“The stuff I’m hearing from developers is very different from what I’m seeing in Sony’s marketing strategy,” Schreier continued.

“I’m getting texts and DMs from developers being like, this is such a shame, the PS5 is so superior in all these other ways that they’re not actually able to message right now, or can’t talk about right now. I heard from at least three different people, since the Cerny thing, that the PS5 is actually the superior piece of hardware in a lot of different ways despite what we’re seeing in these spec sheets.”

It’s really interesting to hear what else Sony has planned for PS5 considering they’ve already revealed the majority of the specs for the console. In any case, we can’t wait for the next reveal of PlayStation 5 which will probably feature video games and console, price, and controller reveal.
